Recently on Sydney Scan....
After a long long time of nothing finally a small update regarding the New P25 GRN with a small tutorial on programming your new Uniden Scanner with thanks to Jim (OZSCAN652- Ebay and Aurfscan username) The new p25 network is one of the latest and greatest (Questionable) in radio communications network offering clearer audio and higher reliability. At this point in time all emergency services in the Greater Sydney Region have made the migration to the full P25 network along with RTA, Sydney Ferries and other various departments. Luckily, none of these services are yet encrypted meaning greater enjoyment for the scanner enthusiast.
Have recently purchased a new Uniden 996t for $372 from a local DSE seems to be going fine.. The past few months has seen only a few minor updates to Sydney-Scan, but within the next month or two i hope to end the contract with bigpond and find a new Internet Service Provider and intend to get a permanent live feed up and running for the Sydney-Metro Area. Any help with this would be appreciated. With winter pretty much taking full effect right now, a sharp rise in the number of house fires has kept NSW Fire Brigade busy aswell as the radio traffic on their channels.. Sydney-Scan wishes to remind its members of basic fire safety. As the temperature cools down house fires heat up.

New campaign marks the start to 09/10 bushfire season..
Emergency Services Minister Steve Whan today unveiled a hard-hitting statewide campaign alerting people to what they must do this summer to protect their homes and families from bush fire.
New bush fire alert messages will be ranked on a sliding scale depending on the threat:
- Advice – a fire has started – there is no immediate danger; general information to keep up to date with developments.
- Watch and Act – represents a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing; you need to start taking action now to protect you and your family.
- Emergency Warning – you are in danger and need to take action immediately. You will be impacted by fire. This message will usually be preceded by an emergency warning signal (a siren sound played on the radio or TV).
More information on how to Prepare. Act. Survive is available on the RFS website www.rfs.nsw.gov.au or people wanting further help and advice can call the RFS directly on 1800 NSW RFS (1800 679 737).
If by some chance there is a problem with the feed or if you have any questions please Email me Click here to email me
Sydney Airport International Terminal Upgrade
Construction is well underway on the Upgrade and expansion of Sydney Airports international terminal. The terminal upgrade is predicted to add around 7,300 square metres to the departures level to provide world class passenger facilities including centralised processing, new retail shopping facilities, food and beverage outlets, and passenger waiting areas. Behind the scenes there will be a completly new baggage handling system. Additional and upgraded aeronautical facilities including aerobridges and taxiway improvements to accommodate a wider range of aircraft. The arrivals baggage system will also be upgraded to meet the extra peak passengers flows associated with the progressive introduction of the A380 into airline fleets.
This project will also see the re-development and re-design of the existing departures level.Another helpful upgrade will be to the signage and toilet facilities. Also adding to the list is the addition of more passanger seating which aim to be more comfortable and more spacious than previously. Construction will be completed in stages to minimise disruption to travellers and work on the departure level will be complete in 2010.
